Spanish police have issued a warning to holidaymakers alerting them to be careful when staying at an all-inclusive hotel. It comes as the force has been monitoring criminal activites in resorts to keep guests informed of the potential dangers and threats to their personal safety.
While the busy summer season is the ideal time to disconnect and have fun, says the National Police, there are also unforeseen events that can completely ruin a holiday. The force issued a warning on social media, along with advice for when people are going to the beach or swimming pool at an all-inclusive hotel.
In a TikTok video, they said: “Be careful, just because you’re staying at an all-inclusive hotel doesn’t mean you have private security watching over your belongings.
“You’re on holiday and you’ve come to enjoy yourself, don’t let anything or anyone spoil it for you.”
The police highlighted the importance of keeping your personal belongings, such as a backpack or a bag, in front of you, giving you a clear view of them and more control. Additionally, it will reduce the risk of thieves taking advantage of the lack of visibility and having easy access to the belongings, reports Majorca Daily Bulletin.
It is recommended that holidaymakers only take essentials to swimming pools, and that any valuable items are left in rooms.
Police officers added: “And if you go for a walk in crowded areas, always keep your backpack , bag and wallet in front of you.”
The Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) which provides travel advice for British nationals also warns Brits to protect their belongings.
It states: “Do not carry all your valuables in one place. Keep a copy of the photo page of your passport somewhere safe.
Make sure your accommodation has adequate security. Keep all doors and windows locked. If you’re concerned about the security of your accommodation, speak to your travel operator or the property owner.”
The popularity of all-inclusive holiday package in Majorca has seen a growth, with the island also being named Travel Supermarket as one of the top 10 cheapest destinations for an all-inclusive holiday.
Travel Supermarket said: “Great-value all-inclusive deals and good weather come standard in Majorca – and there’s plenty of choice if you’re just looking for a pool to flop next to for a week.”
