Paige Spiranac is extending some grace to Tiger Woods.
The golf influencer offered some encouragement for Woods after revealing he would be seeking treatment in his first statement since Friday’s DUI arrest in Florida.
“I think we are all rooting for Tiger,” Spiranac posted to X. “Not as a golfer but more importantly as a person. None of us can fathom what he’s been through both emotionally and physically. Not excusing any behavior but I hope he’s able to get the help he needs in peace without the whole world dog piling on him in a very difficult situation.”
Woods, 50, rolled his luxury SUV near his Florida home on Friday afternoon, attempting to go around a flatbed truck at a “high rate of speed,” per Martin County Sheriff John Budensiek, but had to swerve due to oncoming traffic and then hit the truck.
Woods “exemplified the signs of impairment,” Budensiek said.
The golf icon pleaded not guilty on Tuesday, but faces up to a year behind bars if he’s convicted. Woods, who reportedly blew a negative on a breathalyzer, allegedly had hydrocodone pills in his pocket, The Post previously reported.
It marks his fourth car crash, including a 2017 DUI for which he was allowed to plead guilty to a lesser charge of reckless driving and avoided jail time thanks to a diversion program.
On Tuesday evening, he broke his silence over last week’s crash.
“I know and understand the seriousness of the situation I find myself in today,” he wrote in a statement shared on social media Tuesday, hours after he pleaded not guilty. “I am stepping away for a period of time to seek treatment and focus on my health. This is necessary in order for me to prioritize my well-being and work toward lasting recovery.
“I’m committed to taking the time needed to return in a healthier, stronger, and more focused place, both personally and professionally. I appreciate your understanding and support, and ask for privacy for my family, loved ones and myself at this time.”
