Overwatch 2 developer Blizzard is getting ready to release a new season of content on PlayStation, Xbox, PC and Nintendo Switch.
Titled Honour and Glory, Overwatch 2 Season 15 has a February 18 release date and a 6pm GMT UK launch time.
Needless to say, the new season introduces lots of new content, including a new gameplay mechanic that should add extra depth. Indeed, as part of the new season, Blizzard will add selectable Perks to the game.
According to the early patch notes, players will be able to select from two different upgrades that can be levelled up during games.
Blizzard explains more: “The first level-up is a choice between two minor Perks that are lighter upgrades, such as small passives or cooldown reductions.
“For example, Torbjorn will have the choice between his Forge Hammer restoring the armor health of your teammates, or refilling Rivet Gun’s ammo when activating Overload.”
Then there are major perks, which are said to completely shift gameplay.
“Torbjorn will be able to choose from anchoring your turret to walls and ceilings, or a more powerful level 3 turret,” Blizzard continues. “Both options give you new strategies to dominate the match.”
Elsewhere, Season 15 is said to kick off the 2025 Overwatch 2 Competitive season, which means a ranked reset is on the way.
The ranked reset coincides with a new selection of competitive Galactic Weapons designed to “give players the power of the stars”.
As part of the new competitive season, players will be able to join the 6v6 competitive queue, as well as Overwatch Classic: GOATS.
One of the more surprising additions is the return of Loot Boxes to Overwatch.
Loot boxes will be available from weekly and event rewards, while a Legendary Loot box will also be available in the Free Battle Pass. A further two Legendary Loot boxes are available in the Premium Battle Pass.
Blizzard has confirmed that a Rare or better item will drop in every single box. An Epic item will be available with five consecutive boxes and a Legendary item within 20 consecutive boxes.
Elsewhere, a new character named Freja (pictured at the top of the page) will join Overwatch 2 in Season 16, although fans will be able to try her out during a trial period in Season 15.
Bug fixes and balance changes will also be added as part of the Season 15 update, so keep checking back for the full list of patch notes.
