Microsoft is back with another entry in its Free Play Days promotion for Xbox Series X|S.
Three games are available as part of this weekend’s giveaway, including the winner of multiple 2023 game of the year awards.
Indeed, if you subscribe to Xbox Game Pass Core, Standard or Ultimate, then you can download and play Alan Wake 2 for free this weekend.
Sadly, however, you won’t be able to play the full campaign, as the trial is limited to just three hours.
This means that while you’ll be able to get a taste of the unsettling action game, you probably won’t be able to complete it.
Fortunately, Microsoft has discounted the Deluxe Edition of the game, which is now available for £32.49.
The Deluxe Edition is definitely worth the price of admission, containing the base game and season pass.
This means you can play the Night Springs and Lake House story expansions, all the while receiving digital bonuses like the Crimson Windbreaker outfit, Celebrity Suit, Classic Alan Wake costume, the Parliament Shotgun Skin for Alan Wake and the Lantern Charm for Saga.
“A string of ritualistic murders threatens Bright Falls, a small-town community surrounded by Pacific Northwest wilderness,” reads the official description.
“Saga Anderson, an accomplished FBI agent with a reputation for solving impossible cases arrives to investigate the murders. Anderson’s case spirals into a nightmare when she discovers pages of a horror story that starts to come true around her.

In addition to Alan Wake 2, Xbox Game Pass subscribers can check out The Survivalists and SWORD ART ONLINE Fractured Daydream for free.
Unlike Alan Wake 2, there doesn’t appear to be any restrictions for downloading and playing the aforementioned releases, other than a Game Pass subscription.
The Survivalists sees players attempt to survive on a remote island by exploring, building and crafting.
SWORD ART ONLINE, on the other hand, is an online co-op action game in which players team up to tackle raids.
Both games are also discounted for fans looking to continue playing once the trial comes to an end.
