Offset rival Lil Tjay has denied rumors that he was involved in shooting Cardi B’s estranged husband outside a Florida casino late Monday.
The 24-year-old Bronx-born rapper ripped “baseless” rumors online that their crews were fighting when shots rang out at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino — nearly four years after Offset’s Migos bandmate Takeoff was gunned down in a fight.
“We are issuing this release in regards to false rumors that Lil Tjay was involved in a shooting … which [resulted] in non-life-threatening injuries to Offset, formerly a member of Migos,” Tjay’s attorney, Dawn M Florio, said in a statement on Instagram.
“Lil Tjay has not been shot, nor has Lil Tjay been charged with any shooting. Any reporting to the contrary is false,” the attorney stated firmly.
“We encourage people to consult trusted news sources and to verify the accuracy of any reporting before reflexively sharing or repeating baseless rumors,” she continued.
No charges have been filed against Lil Tjay as of Tuesday.
In the wake of the shooting, multiple high-profile figures, including hip-hop podcaster DJ Akademiks and internet personality Ceddy Nash, fueled reports that a fight had broken out between the two rappers’ crews before the shooting, with some even alleging Lil Tjay had fired the shots or was also injured.
Offset, real name Kiari Kendrell Cephus, 34, was listed as in a stable condition as of Monday night following the shooting at around 7 p.m.
His estranged wife, rapper Cardi B, with whom he shares three children, has yet to issue a statement following the shooting.
Offset’s beef with Lil Tjay, born Tione Jayden Merritt, reportedly began in early 2025 when Merritt publicly accused Offset of being “broke” and suffering from a gambling addiction.
Lil Tjay claimed he lent the “Bad and Boujee” star $10,000 at a casino after seeing him “panicking” and asking random people for money via Cash App.
He accused Offset of refusing to repay the loan and reportedly telling Tjay to “get it back in blood.”
In March 2025, the beef escalated when Offset challenged Lil Tjay to a one-on-one fight to be broadcast on a livestream, although it never took place.
Offset’s shooting comes less than four years after his Migos bandmate Takeoff, real name Kirsnick Khari Ball, was killed at age 28 in a shooting in Houston, Texas, in November 2022, in which he was reportedly an innocent bystander.
The group, which also featured rapper Quavo, disbanded in 2023 following Takeoff’s death.
Lil Tjay was also the victim of a shooting in June 2022 in Edgewater, New Jersey.
