Oasis fans 'gutted' as iconic song not on comeback tour setlist

Oasis made a highly anticipated return to the stage after more than 16 years in Cardiff last Friday. But amongst the joy and excitement of the band’s comeback tour, fans were disappointed by the notable song missing from the band’s setlist.

Performing to a crowd of 75,000 at Cardiff’s Principality Stadium for the first night of their Live ’25 tour, new fans and old were giddy at seeing their favourite band reunite on stage regardless of the setlist, which is never going to please everyone. The frontmen started the gig with their song Hello, which is not generally considered to be one of their big-hitters. Liam greeted the audience; he said: “Hello beautiful people, it’s been too long.”

They then played Acquiesce and most of the tracks from their hit album What’s the Story (Morning Glory). Yet, while their show has been met largely with rave reviews, there was a bit of disapointment around one specific track’s absence.

Lyla was a UK number one hit for the band and huge favourite of the fans, yet it was not played on the night. Some fans claimed to be “devastated” to not have heard their favourite track, Wales Online reports.

An Oasis fan, Maxi Gonzalez, posted a picture of the setlist on X and said: “What did you think of the setlist? For me, it was perfect. Thank you OASIS.”

The thread had a huge response from fans sharing their thoughts on the long-awaited setlist.

One fan said: “Lyla would have been the biggest sing-along in history.”

Another fan commented: “Was gutted to not see Lyla on the set list. That hits hard live and always goes down well.”

“Take out Bring It On Down for Lyla and it’s perfect,” another added.

But it was not only Lyla that fans felt was skipped from the line-up. The band also chose not to include the 2002 single Stop Crying Your Heart Out, the 2002 single which has gone on to become one of Oasis’ biggest songs across the globe. Other tracks, such as Columbia and She’s Electric, were also missing.

Despite this, fans agreed that there were simply “too many good songs” to choose from and it is impossible to keep everyone happy. But with a long string of gigs to go, it’s likley that the setlist will adapt over time, so perhaps Lyla could make its own comeback later in the tour.  The band will head to Manchester’s Heaton Park for five nights (July 11, 12, 16, 19 and 20) as it’s next stop ahead of further dates in London, Dublin and Edinburgh, prior to a world tour.
