The NYPD has released photos of two more ruffians wanted for allegedly pelting uniformed cops with snowballs as a post-blizzard free-for-all in Washington Square Park devolved into chaos.
Both suspects, believed to be between 18 and 20 years old and wearing black jackets, are captured in surveillance grabs – one carrying a huge chunk of snow, and the other with his hood pulled up to brave the frosty elements.
The NYPD is looking to criminally charge the pair – in addition to two other men whose photos were previously released – for intentionally striking the cops multiple times with snow and ice in the head, neck, and face, the department said.
Two officers were treated at a local hospital for their injuries, with one suffering a possible bruise behind his eye and the other had a headache from getting hit in the back of the head, sources said.
The mayhem unfolded around 4 p.m. Monday, after a 911 call about teens hurling snow off the roof of the park’s comfort station drew a small police response – and then a larger one when those cops were pummeled with snow, according to the sources.
Police unions were quick to condemn the snow-slingers, joined by NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch.
“I want to be very clear: The behavior depicted is disgraceful, and it is criminal,” Tisch said in a statement posted to X.
But Mayor Zohran Mamdani — while acknowledging that cops deserve respect, dismissed the ordeal as nothing more than juvenile antics.
“I’ve seen the videos of kids throwing snowballs at NYPD officers in Washington Square Park,” he posted on X.
“Officers, like all city workers, have been out in a historic blizzard, keeping New Yorkers safe and cars moving.
“Treat them with respect. If anyone’s catching a snowball, it’s me.”
