A total of 140 people have been arrested on the first day of a popular carnival. The Metropolitan Police confirmed that, of the dozens of arrests at the Notting Hill Carnival in London, 15 were for assaults on police.
One officer required hospital treatment after sustaining injuries to their hand, and the force confirmed all officers will receive the appropriate support.
