A career criminal claims he spent four hours in a police cell after armed police stormed a hospital as he attended the birth of his child. Police in Merseyside confirmed officers with guns were called to Arrowe Park Hospital in Wirral just after 4pm on Sunday (August 17).
Merseyside Police said a man aged 42 was arrested on suspicion of being in possession of a firearm. He has since been released under investigation. A police spokeswoman said a firearm wasn’t found, but enquiries are continuing.
Sam Walker identified himself, claiming he was the man who was arrested and telling his 139,000 followers on TikTok that “trolls” had wrongly told police he was in the hospital with a firearm about to have a shootout with gang members.
Mr Walker denied having a firearm, saying the birth had been the “happiest couple of days” in his life.
He added: “These trolls had police come charging into the hospital, pointing sub-machine guns at my head…
“Now the police were only doing their job based on what they were told and heard from hospital staff who said they received a phone call from someone who said to them there’s going to be a shootout.”
Mr Walker urged the police to track down the culprit, who he said needed to be in prison.
He told his TikTok followers the police kept him in a cell for four hours before releasing him, adding: “This is the level they (trolls) go to, but even to target innocent men, women and brand new babies – that’s the level these trolls go to.”
In another TikTok post, he said: “Trolls and clout chasers are as low as it gets. To make lies up to get at me is as low as it gets when it affects innocent mums and dads with new babies.”
Merseyside Police said in a statement on Monday (August 18) that there was no risk to the public and visitors were still able to enter the hospital.
Officers were still at the hospital yesterday, carrying out their investigation, according to the Liverpool Echo.
