Nintendo Switch 2 fans can breathe sigh of relief even though price could still increase

The Nintendo Switch 2 will launch next month at a cost of $449 in the US and £395 in the UK.

There was, however, speculation that US pricing could change, after Nintendo delayed pre-orders following President Trump’s announcement that tariffs would be introduced on goods arriving into the country.

While Nintendo eventually decided against a Switch 2 price increase in the US, the company hasn’t ruled out any changes in the future.

In an interview with Yahoo Japan (via GamesRadar), Nintendo president Shuntaro Furukawa said that the company is keeping an eye on the tariff situation and would react accordingly.

“If the assumption of tariffs changes significantly, we will consider and implement any price adjustments,” Furukawa said.

Despite the uncertainty surrounding tariffs, the Nintendo Switch 2 has proven incredibly popular with pre-order customers since first going on sale.

Indeed, in its recent financial earnings report, Nintendo said it expected to sell a whopping 15 million Switch 2 consoles in its first year on sale.

With pre-order units selling out fast, the company has promised to strengthen production to meet demand.

The Nintendo Switch 2 release date was announced during a recent Direct conference, alongside a boatload of new games.

The new Nintendo console will launch on June 5, alongside games like Mario Kart World, Nintendo Switch 2 Welcome Tour, Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition, Fortnite, and Hogwarts Legacy.

Additional first and third-party games will be available in the weeks and months after launch, including Donkey Kong Bananza on July 17 and Metroid Prime 4: Beyond later in the year.

Nintendo will also release enhanced versions of existing Switch games, including upgraded editions of Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom.

The Switch 2 Enhanced games will feature improved visuals, smoother frame-rates and in some cases and new content.

Breath of the Wild, for example, comes with a companion app that provides information about each area and an improved map.
