The Nintendo Switch 2 was announced with a sneak peek trailer in January, although we’re still a few weeks away from a full reveal with a release date, launch line-up and price.

Nintendo will showcase the console during an upcoming Direct conference on April 2.

Nintendo has since announced an exact time for the Direct, and it’s an early start for fans living in the US.

As you can see from the tweet below, the Nintendo Direct will take place at 6am PT on April 2.

It’s better news for UK fans, who can tune in live at 2pm GMT UK time on the afternoon of April 2. If you’re at work, then you may want to take a late lunch.

Nintendo will use the Direct to announce the price of the console and the launch line-up, although some of these details may have already leaked.

Multiple analysts have suggested that the Switch 2 will cost $399, which is more expensive than the original Switch but cheaper than the PS5 and Xbox Series X.

As for the games, a Legend of Zelda remaster is tipped for day-one, alongside third-party games like No Man’s Sky, Halo: Master Chief Collection and Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024.

As for the console itself, the Nintendo Switch 2 is larger than the current model, featuring a bigger screen and JoyCons.

The JoyCons will reportedly utilise technology to eliminate stick drift, as well as magnets for connecting to the display.

Judging by the trailer, the JoyCons can also be used like a mouse, meaning PC-style games should work better on the Switch 2.

The kickstand is also more flexible, giving users more viewing angles when playing in handheld mode.

It looks like Mario Kart 9 is also in development, and based on the trailer, should support 24-person races in single and multiplayer.
