Nicole Kidman's new movie branded 'wildly unpredictable' is coming soon with stellar cast

The suspenseful thriller, Holland, is set to premiere on Amazon Prime Video soon and has been touted by the streaming giant as “wildly unpredictable”. The plot revolves around a teacher in a small midwestern town who begins to suspect her husband of leading a double life.

Unbeknownst to her, the reality of the situation is far worse than she could have imagined, throwing everything she thought she knew into chaos. The concept first made its appearance on the Black List in 2013 but was put on hold – until now. In the movie, Nancy Vandergroot, a high school home economics teacher in the town of Holland, grows suspicious that her optometrist husband, Fred, is cheating on her. She enlists the help of the school’s shop teacher, Dave Delgado, to aid her in investigating him.

With no concrete evidence to support her suspicions, viewers are left guessing about what is truly fuelling her conviction that Fred is being unfaithful. While the original script was set in contemporary times, the revised version takes place in the year 2000. Here’s everything you need to know about the release date, cast, storyline, and more.

When does Holland premiere?

Holland will be available for streaming worldwide on Prime Video from March 27, so fans won’t have to wait much longer.

Director Mimi Cave was in the midst of editing Fresh when her agent presented her with this project.

Speaking to Variety, she said: “I knew a little bit about the history of it and how it had tried to have a couple of different lives. And, for some reason I couldn’t stop thinking about it.”

The film has a duration of 108 minutes.

Who stars in Holland?

The upcoming film is a star-studded affair, with Nicole Kidman leading as Nancy Vandergroot.

Sharing the screen is Gael García Bernal as her workmate Dave Delgado, while Matthew Macfadyen steps into the shoes of her other half, Fred.

Jude Hill shines as Harry Vandergroot, the offspring of Nancy and Fred.

Adding to the impressive roster are Rachel Sennott portraying Candy Deboer, Lennon Parham in the role of Lennon, joined by Isaac Krasner as Shawn Graumann and Jeff Pope as Squiggs Graumann.

Completing the lineup is Jacob Moran as Gwen’s boy Matt, and Bill Russell playing the Dutch tutor.

What’s Holland about?

Originally christened Holland, Michigan, this cinematic piece trails Nancy’s quest to unearth the hidden truths of her hubby’s clandestine deeds.

With a teaser trailer out in public view, we catch glimpses of Nancy’s life, bathed in apparent joy, as she proclaims daily awakening “wake up in the best place on Earth”.

As she muses, “I look around myself and it feels like a dream,” viewers observe snippets of familial bliss with her son and spouse.

Yet she discloses, “It may seem like we have everything all together, but right under the surface, it’s like we are being strangled.”

A twist sets in when her husband announces an unexpected overnight departure from town, leaving Nancy distracted and obsessed with hatching her hypotheses.

Despite recognising that “actions have consequences”, Nancy is drawn inexorably to delve further, disregarding potential risks.
