The Post’s Ryan Dunleavy previews the NFC East ahead of training camp:
Dallas Cowboys
Coach: Brian Schottenheimer (second year)
Training camp site: Oxnard, Calif.
Key additions: One year after trading edge rusher Micah Parsons to the Packers, the Cowboys acquired edge Rashan Gary (7.5 sacks) from the Packers. To fix a dreadful passing defense, the Cowboys targeted three safeties — free agents Jalen Thompson and P.J. Locke, and rookie Caleb Downs, who stunningly slipped to No. 11 in the draft because of positional devaluation — and CB Cobie Durant. The Cowboys’ second first-round pick was edge Malachi Lawrence.
Key losses: The defensive front-seven is undergoing a makeover without DTs Osa Odighizuwa (49ers) and Solomon Thomas (Titans), LBs Logan Wilson and Kenneth Murray, and edges Jadeveon Clowney and Dante Fowler Jr. Special teams ace C.J. Goodwin joined Wilson in retirement. S Donovan Wilson was squeezed out by the secondary changes.
Training camp storylines to watch: There’s a battle at left tackle between disappointing former first-round pick Tyler Guyton and Nate Thomas, with Taylor Decker looming as a possible free-agent solution. The Cowboys have offensive continuity — all 11 starters, including Guyton, return — but are learning a new 3-4 defense under first-time coordinator Christian Parker. WR George Pickens agreed to play on the franchise tag after his First-Team All-Pro season, but what does that mean for his effort level if he feels the slightest injury? QB Dak Prescott underwent personal turmoil when his engagement to his children’s mother ended. Will it affect his play?
Philadelphia Eagles
Coach: Nick Sirianni (sixth year)
Training camp site: Philadelphia
Key additions: Filling an A.J. Brown-sized hole is a task for a receiver committee, including Dontayvion Wicks, Marquise “Hollywood” Brown, Elijah Moore and rookie Makai Lemon. Edge rusher Jonathan Greenard arrives off a down year after tallying 24.5 sacks over 2023-24. CB Riq Woolen should be motivated on a one-year prove-it deal. A suddenly crowded quarterback room includes second-stringer Andy Dalton and rookie Cole Payton.
Key losses: Brown forced his way to the Patriots, which should create more locker-room harmony at the cost of his annual 1,000-plus yards. The Eagles were outbid by the Panthers when trying to retain trade rental edge Jaelan Phillips. Super Bowl winners LB Nakobe Dean (Raiders) and S Reed Blankenship (Texans) cashed in as first-time free agents. Edge Brandon Graham would be welcomed back but he could be on the Roger Clemens Half-Retired Plan.
Training camp storylines to watch: The Jalen Hurts-Eagles marriage always feels somewhat tenuous. Now Hurts is adjusting to his 10th offensive coordinator (first-timer and Kyle Shanahan coaching-tree branch Sean Mannion) in 11 years — dating to college. Who will win the backup job between Dalton and incumbent Tanner McKee? The NFL’s best offensive line is adjusting to life without departed guru Jeff Stoutland, and 36-year-old stud RT Lane Johnson and LG Landon Dickerson seem to be breaking down. DT Jalen Carter is seeking a new mega-contract and is a hold-in — or trade request? — candidate.
New York Giants
Coach: John Harbaugh (first year)
Training camp site: White Sulphur Springs, W.Va.
Key additions: Harbaugh brought with him a few former Ravens — including TE Isaiah Likely, FB Patrick Ricard, S Ar’Darius Washington and P Jordan Stout. The other new pass-catchers are WRs Darnell Mooney, Calvin Austin and a last-gasp Odell Beckham Jr. The new-look middle of the defense features DTs Shelby Harris and DJ Reader, and ILBs Arvell Reese Tremaine Edmunds. Three rookies (Reese, RG Francis Mauignoa and CB Colton Hood) could start.
Key losses: Former head coach Brian Daboll took WR Wan’Dale Robinson, TE Daniel Bellinger and CB Cor’Dale Flott with him to the Titans (as offensive coordinator). Former All-Pro DT Dexter Lawrence forced a trade to the Bengals after a down year when his conditioning was suspect. The longtime kicking operation — LS Casey Kreiter, P Jamie Gillan and K Graham Gano — was cleared out.
Training camp storylines to watch: As their home facility undergoes construction, the Giants hit the road with tons of intrigue besides what a demanding Harbaugh-run camp looks like. Does WR Malik Nabers (torn ACL) start on the PUP list, and when does he return to practice? Can Beckham’s body hold up under the day-to-day practice grind? Can RB Cam Skattebo (fractured tibia) pick up where he left off as an exciting rookie? QB Jaxson Dart is learning a new offense from former head coaches Matt Nagy and Brian Callahan, and adjusting to mostly new receivers while trying to thread the needle between scrambling less and using his legs as a weapon.
Washington Commanders
Coach: Dan Quinn (third year)
Training camp site: Ashburn, Va.
Key additions: Defense was the focus. Enter three edges — Odafe Owen and K’Lavon Chaisson, both of whom had 7.5 sacks last season, and Charles Omenihu — plus ILB Leo Chenal, DT Tim Settle, CB Amik Robertson and S Nick Cross. Rookie ILB Sonny Styles was the apple of Quinn’s eye. TE Chig Okonkwo and WR Dyami Brown, who is back after a one-year stint with the Jaguars, are the top offensive investments.
Key losses: The all-in experiment in 2025 didn’t work, so 30-somethings WR Deebo Samuel, LB Bobby Wagner, edge Von Miller, CB Marshon Lattimore, TE Zach Ertz and RB Austin Ekeler (all unsigned) were jettisoned. C Tyler Biadasz left for the Chargers, though that’s a “swap” for Oweh that they’d make again. RB Chris Rodriguez Jr. sought more carries with the Jaguars.
Training camp storylines to watch: David Blough is making the big jump from assistant quarterbacks coach to offensive coordinator to try to get 2024 Offensive Rookie of the Year QB Jayden Daniels back on track after his injury-disrupted second season. Who are Daniels’ top weapons other than Terry McLaurin? Is there a legitimate No. 2 receiver among Brown, Luke McCaffrey, rookie Antonio Williams, Jaylin Lane and Treylon Burks? The running back-by-committee of Jacory Croskey-Merritt, Rachaad White, Jerome Ford and rookie Kaytron Allen leaves a lot to be desired. Quinn needs to work his magic to get the overhauled 3-4 defense to gel quickly.
