California Governor Gavin Newsom is making the roughly 6,000-mile journey this week from the Hollywood Hills to the Swiss Alps to rip into President Donald Trump at the World Economic Forum.

“Trump’s economic agenda betrays our nation: it is not ‘America First’ but ‘Trump First’ — rewarding the favored, punishing the dissenters, and burdening the rest,” Newsom told Politico in a statement.

Newsom, who is largely seen as a top presidential contender, is scheduled to speak at the event on Thursday, one day after Trump takes the stage.

The California governor plans to confront Trump’s view of capitalism as “an assault on the free market,” and label the president as a “crony capitalist,” Newsom’s office told Politico.

The 56th annual meeting of the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland features business elite and government heads from across the world.

This year’s theme is exploring how cooperating can be renewed amid contested norms.
