  • This Evening and Tonight:
  • Friday:
  • Outlook for Saturday to Monday:

The UK could be hit with more snowfall at the end of January, according to forecasters.

WX Charts predicts snow for 48 hours from midnight on January 28 to midnight on January 30, with the heaviest wintery downpours coming on January 29.

The snow will be focused on the Scottish Highlands, with Inverness and surrounding areas hit by the treacherous weather.

The Central Belt, near Edinburgh, may be hit too – as may the Scottish Borders.

However, northern England and Northern Ireland may also see patches of snowfall.

The Met Office does not tend to make snow predictions so far in advance as they are often unreliable.

However, the national forecaster concedes in their long-range forecasts that there is a “small chance” cold air will arrive that could bring “snow showers.”

Elsewhere, most of England and all of Wales are unlikely to see any snowfall. Heavy rain is, however, expected in western areas of southern Britain.

This Evening and Tonight:

Mist and fog patches are forming across parts of Wales, the Midlands, and northern England, but they tend to lift into cloud later in the night. There is a good deal of cloud elsewhere, with some outbreaks of rain across Northern Ireland and Scotland.

Friday:

On Friday, Scotland and Northern Ireland will be rather cloudy and windy but mild, with any rain mainly over western hills. England and Wales will be largely dry but often cloudy.

Outlook for Saturday to Monday:

There has been some rain and it is often windy in the northwest. Central and southern England and sometimes Wales are mostly cloudy, with hill fog and patchy drizzle. It is occasionally brighter elsewhere. It is mild north and colder south.
