Fans of the Netflix series Wednesday are being encouraged not to miss a hit sequel which will be available for free soon.
The Addams Family 2, is set to land on BBC iPlayer this weekend. Specifically, it will be available for streaming after its television broadcast.
It’s scheduled to air at 3.20pm on BBC One, Sunday September 7, with viewers able to catch up at their leisure shortly afterwards.
For those who can’t wait, the film is already available for streaming if they have a Prime Video subscription.
The first film in the series is also accessible on the platform.
It’s the perfect weekend viewing for anyone who has already binged the second season of Wednesday. The Netflix smash hit recently dropped the second part of its latest season earlier this week, reports the Mirror.
The character of Wednesday features prominently in the film’s plot.
The 2021 animated sequel boasts an impressive voice cast. Oscar Isaac voices Gomez while Charlize Theron lends her voice to his wife Morticia.
Kickass star Chloë Grace Moretz voices the role of Wednesday, Gomez and Morticia’s daughter and a mad science child prodigy, while Javon Walton, known from Umbrella Academy and Euphoria, plays her brother Pugsley.
Nick Kroll, recognised for co-creating and voicing multiple characters on the Netflix series Big Mouth, voices Uncle Fester. There are also some major cameos including Bette Midler as Grandmamma Addams and Snoop Dogg as Cousin Itt.
The film’s plot revolves around Gomez, who becomes concerned that his children are drifting away from him and Morticia. Meanwhile, Wednesday is thrilled to meet a fellow genius, who also happens to be the sponsor of her school’s science fair.
However, when an annoying solicitor shows up at their home, Gomez decides to take the Addams family on an unexpected and entertaining holiday, packing everyone into their spooky camper van for a tour across America. Yet, Wednesday finds herself grappling with self-doubt, questioning why she is so different from the rest of her family.
Despite the film being aimed at a younger demographic, it has been recommended by fans of all ages. One viewer shared their thoughts online, stating: “Absolutely packed with humour, weirdness, creepiness and priceless jokes in every step of the movie.
“It’s the kind of film I can enjoy watching no matter how insanely cringe and somewhat twisted it might be. The part with the song and monster battle was by far my favourite and I love all the dark moments of Wednesday. Especially the ones where she shows evil powers.”
Another fan commented: “This movie was surprisingly good. I kind of wish they spend a bit more time on the places they visited, but it was still good. I love it”.
A third person chimed in: “A nice mixture of clever Addams style humour and slapstick. I was not disappointed by this sequel and look forward to the third one!”
Wednesday is streaming on Netflix and The Addams Family 2 is streaming on Prime Video and BBC iPlayer from September 7.
