Fans of Netflix’s Knives Out franchise are forecasting the latest chapter will be a “masterpiece” following a release date revelation.
Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery continues from 2019’s Knives Out and 2022 sequel, Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery. Daniel Craig will return as detective Benoit Blanc as he tackles his most “dangerous” case to date.
The stellar ensemble of the third film features Josh O’Connor, Andrew Scott, Jeremy Renner, Mila Kunis and Glenn Close. Joining them are Josh Brolin, Cailee Spaeny, Daryl McCormack and Thomas Haden Church.
Today (September 2), Netflix tantalised viewers
“Let’s wait for this masterpiece,” penned one eager fan, as another shared: “Sounds like another thrilling mystery is on the way. Can’t wait to see it in theaters and then on Netflix!”
“More theatrical releases for Netflix movies?” suggested a third, while a fourth Netflix fan said: “Who do I BEG for a screening invite.”
The third knives out film unfolds in New York where a peculiar murder shakes a local community. Police chief Geraldine Scott (Mila Kunis) joins forces with Daniel Craig’s Benoit to decode the puzzle.
Director Rian Johnson revealed during Netflix’s Tudum event that the film will hark back to the original Knives Out, stating: “It’s more similar to the first Knives Out in that it gets back to the real origins of the genre, which predate Agatha Christie, going back to Edgar Allan Poe.
“It’s still a Benoit Blanc mystery, so it’s funny and fun, but it’s set in an old stone church, there are lots of graveyards.”
He further disclosed: “I have strong feelings about faith: both my own personal experience and how it intersects with our country’s cultural and civic life, and the ways that intersection touches all of us differently. So it felt like rich ground for a good story.”
Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery hits select cinemas on November 28 before coming to Netflix on December 12
