Naomi Osaka is reportedly set to work with Tomasz Wiktorowski, the former coach of Iga Swiatek. The four-time Major winner announced her sudden split from Patrick Mouratoglou on Sunday, days after Emma Raducanu beat her in the second round of the WTA 500 in Washington.
Osaka is already on the hunt for a new mentor. The former world No. 1 is competing at this week’s Canadian Open, and Polish coach Wiktorowski is jetting out to join her.
According to Forty Deuce, Swiatek’s former coach is travelling to Montreal for a meeting at the WTA 1000 event. For now, their link-up will only be a trial, rather than a proper coaching partnership.
But Osaka has been left without a full-time coach after parting ways with Mouratoglou. The French tennis coach, best known for working with Serena Williams, joined Osaka’s team last September.
On Sunday, the Japanese tennis star took to Instagram to announce their split. “Merci Patrick. It was such a great experience learning from you. Wishing you nothing but the best,” she wrote.
“You are one of the coolest people I’ve ever met and I’m sure I’ll see you around.”
