My washing machine never gets mould or bad odour thanks to one Home Bargains spray

Washing machine mould is a common problem that many households experience, especially around the rubber seal. This is an area where moisture, detergent residue, and trapped dirt can build over time. While washing machines are designed to clean our clothes, the damp environment inside the drum and around the seal can create the perfect environment for mould and unpleasant smells to develop.

When I noticed buildup around the door seal of my washing machine, as well as in the seal, I reached for the Elbow Grease All Purpose Degreaser Spray to tackle the problem.

I apply it carefully around the seal and the inside of the door, leaving it for a few moments before wiping the area with a microfibre cloth.

Rather than spending ages scrubbing with little progress, the degreaser helps make the cleaning process quicker and easier.

It also leaves a delightful, subtle scent in the machine and the kitchen. I picked the spray up from Home Bargains for under £2 and have also purchased it from The Range.

Whether it’s metals, plastics or fabrics, this spray is my go-to solution for a multitude of household cleaning problems. I use it to wipe down kitchen worktops, including the hob, scrub the barbecue and tackle fabric stains too.

I’ve been relying on it for well over five years, and I only recently used the spray to clean the washing machine, and it’s been working wonders.

While a good washing machine cleaning can make a big difference, prevention is also important.

I make sure to leave the washing machine door slightly ajar after washing clothes as well as cleaning the appliance, to allow moisture to escape.

I also make sure to clean the seal at least once a week and remove any trapped debris and moisture to keep it fresh.

Running an occasional hot maintenance wash and cleaning out the detergent drawer can also help to make a big difference.
