My game of the year has just been given a release date

Outside of GTA 6 (which I’m still convinced will be delayed) and potentially some unannounced Switch 2 releases, Capcom Fighting Collection 2 is the game I’ve been most looking forward to this year.

While the first Capcom Fighting Collection contained some fantastic fighting games, the sequel is absolutely jam-packed with classics.

Not only does it contain the excellent Capcom vs SNK and its sequel, but it also comes with two of the best multiplayer fighting games ever created in Power Stone and Power Stone 2.

And the good news is that we’ll be playing Capcom Fighting Collection 2 sooner rather than later, as Capcom announces the release date.

During a special Capcom Spotlight event, the publisher announced that Capcom Fighting Collection 2 will have a May 16 release date.

Coming to PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC, Capcom Fighting Collection 2 is available to pre-order now.

Priced at £34.99, pre-order customers will receive two additional songs for the game’s Museum Mode.

Created by official Capcom band CAP-JAMS, the new tracks include ‘Soy Sauce for Geese’ in Capcom vs. SNK: Millennium Fight 2000 Pro, as well as the ‘Rival Schools Medley’ for Project Justice.

Sadly, however, the tracks will not be available to use as background music while playing the aforementioned games.

Speaking of games, Capcom Fighting Collection 2 contains eight legendary releases in one incredible package.

Games include the aforementioned Capcom vs. SNK: Millennium Fight 2000 Pro and Capcom vs. SNK 2: Mark of the Millennium 2001, as well as Power Stone and Power Stone 2.

That’s on top of Capcom Fighting Evolution, Street Fighter Alpha 3 UPPER, Project Justice and Plasma Sword: Nightmare of Bilstein.

The games can be played in local multiplayer and online, with Capcom promising a smooth experience thanks to rollback netcode.

“Players can view more than 700 pieces of artwork from all 8 titles along with never-before-seen development documents used to make the original games,” Capcom continues.

“The Music feature contains over 300 tracks from the original arcade games that players can listen to at any time!”
