Police have sounded the alarm after 11 prison inmates, including murderers and other violent offenders branded as ‘armed and dangerous,’ broke out from the Orleans Justice Center.
Among the fugitives, 20 year old Kendall Myles has been recaptured in New Orleans, while his criminal cohorts remain on the run.
The rogue gallery of escapees includes Antoine Massey, Lenton Vanburen, Leo Tate, Derrick Groves, Jermaine Donald, Corey Boyd, Gary Price, Robert Moody, Dkenan Dennis, and Keith Lewis, who should be avoided by the public at all costs.
The jailbreak was confirmed when officials noticed the absconding prisoners during today’s morning headcount, with local media outlets providing extensive coverage of the incident.
An image circulated by the media showed the rather bold exit route used by the inmates, alongside mocking taunts directed at the guards left behind, including “To Easy LOL” and “Catch us when you can”, reports the Mirror.
Sheriff Susan Hutson of Orleans Parish is spearheading a thorough inquiry into the breach, vowing to scrutinise every aspect from staff conduct to security failings.
In response to the dire situation, NOPD Superintendent Anne Kirkpatrick has issued a stark warning in a press conference: “This is an urgent and a serious situation. Please be mindful.
“We know or have asked for pictures of these escapees from the sheriff’s office. We do also want to make I appeal to the public that if you see something, and you just think this is not right, don’t hesitate. Call 911.”
