Mum makes unexpected gross find while cleaning kids’ building blocks


A mum expressed her disgust after an unsettling revelation about the frequency with which she cleans her child’s toys.

Dawn took to social media to share the unsettling outcome of washing her son’s building blocks.

In a TikTok video, the mum detailed her decision to give the building blocks a bath after her baby accidentally spilled coffee on them.

Opting for the bathtub and soap to clean off the coffee, she was taken aback by the outcome.

She shared: “POV: your toddler spills an entire cup of coffee into their Megablocks bin, and now you’re stirring them around in your bathtub, realising how dirty they actually are.”

As she stirred, the water quickly turned black, revealing the accumulated dirt since she originally purchased them.

“At first I was like ‘ooh, this is pretty’ then I went real quick from that to (sick emoji),” Dawn captioned the clip.

The video, shared on her TikTok account @dawno.saur, rapidly gained viral status, amassing over 1 million views and 38,000 likes.

The water’s shocking color left viewers astonished, and the timely warning coincides with the likelihood of many children receiving building blocks for Christmas.

Parents, appalled by the clip, expressed their disgust in the comments, with numerous pledges to clean their children’s blocks more frequently.

One person commented: “We’ve had our for 4 years and now I feel like I have to.”

Another user shared: “I didn’t need to see this *turns on tub faucet*,” while a third TikTok account wrote: “I know right I just did my grandaughter’s toys was shocked.”

Other commenters shared the methods they found to be safe for cleaning the blocks, including putting them in the dishwasher.

One person recalled: “I used to put my kids’ blocks in a pillow case then in the washing machine on low or no spin.”
