‘Mould vanishes’ from bathroom grout with ‘magic’ cleaning solution

According to bathroom expert Craig Phillips, based at Bathroom Mountain, his “trusted method” will get rid of mould in a jiffy.

Mould tends to build up along bathroom tiles because of high humidity and poor ventilation.

If left untreated, mould will continue to grow and make the bathroom look disgustingly unhygienic.

Plus, breathing in mould spores isn’t good for anyone’s health so it’s a safety issue too.

Mr Phillips said: “My trusted method to restore bathroom tiles to their original brightness only requires two common household items: cotton wool and good old bleach.”

He explained the process: “Soak cotton wool strips in bleach and carefully place them along the mouldy grout.

“[Then] leave the treatment to sit overnight, allowing the bleach to work its magic.”

Mr Phillips promised: “By morning, the results will be visible. The mould vanishes, leaving the grout looking as good as new.”

He added: “It’s a simple yet effective technique that works overnight with minimal effort!”

Do bear in mind that bleach, while it has anti-fungal properties, the substance can be toxic. This is why it’s great to air out the bathroom, if possible, by opening a window.

If you don’t have a window in the bathroom, leaving the extractor fan on during the night while it works its magic could be helpful.

Even though bleach is an effective cleaner, it can also cause stains if it comes into contact with clothing.

In order to limit the use of bleach, improve ventilation in the bathroom and wiping down wet tiles after showering is recommended.
