Transforming your garden into a picturesque haven doesn’t have to break the bank, as demonstrated by Gardners’ World icon Monty Don.
The beloved horticulturalist, 70, delighted fans by disclosing that he crafted the charming garden addition for a mere £50, using items readily available at home.
Monty imparted his wisdom to his 1.3 million followers, posting a photo of the thrifty garden embellishment and commenting: “Thinking water feature, dog and bird bath, drinking bowl, air cooler: All from a 50 quid recycled fire bowl!”
The response was overwhelmingly positive, with more than 18,000 likes on the post and numerous admirers leaving glowing remarks.
One enthusiast expressed their desire to emulate Monty’s design: “Looking to recreate the same. I love the simplicity of it. Stunning.”
Another admirer exclaimed: “I love it – £50! I’d love to get my hands on one for that money.”
A third commenter envisaged the joy Monty’s pet would find in the new addition: “Fabulous recycling Monty. The wildlife and Ned must love it, especially in the summer heat.”
Another follower shared their own upcycling success: “We made a planter for our succulents out of a barbecue lid. Love it!”
If you’re looking to replicate the garden feature yourself, you’ll be pleased to know you only need five items.
These are – an old fire bowl you have cleaned out, a submersible fountain pump that sits inside it, pebbles or other suitable decorations, a waterproof outdoor extension cord and water.
