Moment man launches crate of beer at Tesco security guard in front of horrified shoppers

The shocking moment a Tesco customer began brawling was caught on camera in a ramage at the branch in Portsmouth. The enraged shopper was seen throwing punches and crates of beer at a security guard in the middle of the fruit and veg aisle.

Other shoppers filmed the incident, with clips ending up on Facebook after being filmed at the Tesco Extra branch in Fratton on Thursday. The infuriated man is seen ripping off his jacket before shouting: “Who’s stupid, who’s f***ing stupid?”

A startled security guard backs off as the man throws punches at him, before he shoves him back as he continues approaching.

The man then picks up what looks like an onion and hurls it at the guard as other shoppers gather round to watch the events unfold. The man then launches a crate of beer at the guard, leading to another shopper taking him on alone.

The Good Samaritan pins him to the floor as he shouts: “Stay f***ing down, there’s f***ing kids in here, do not f***ing stand.”

He then walks away after getting to his feet and having another small scuffle. Footage of the fight has since been viewed thousands of times online.

One person wrote: “The geezer who floored him is a security guard himself well done for protecting the others.”

A spokesman from Tesco confirmed the supermarket chain was aware of the fight. The company said it was assisting police with their inquiries following the incident, with Tesco insisting the safety of colleagues and customers was its “number one priority”.

Hampshire Police confirmed it attended the incident at 6.03pm following reports that a security staff member had been assaulted.

A spokesman told MailOnline: “Officers attended and shortly afterwards made an arrest. A 29-year-old man from Havant has been arrested on suspicion of assault occasioning actual bodily harm, racially aggravated assault occasioning actual bodily harm, theft from a shop and possession of a controlled drug of class B. He has been given police bail with conditions until Thursday, March 28, 2024, pending further enquiries.”
