Moment eco zealout boasts of plot to wreak havoc with Armistice Day protests | UK | News

This is the moment an eco-zealot reveals a plot to wreak havoc as the UK marks Armistice Day.

Arthur Clifton, from Just Stop Oil offshoot Youth Demand, can be heard telling some 50 fellow activists at a secret meeting in London that groups will be “swarming” in five cities.

He says: “This is the start of our strategy coming into place on November 11, in five cities across the country. Youth Demand will be getting out into the road, swarming, causing disruption, getting off before arrests are made – hopefully – doing the same thing again in a nationally coordinated pattern across the country, meaning national and highly coordinated, highly organised disruption on a nationwide level.”

Clifton’s boast is met with whistles, whooping and applause in the clip filmed by undercover reporter Max Parry at the meeting in West Dock, London, on November 2.

A call to action shared via Youth Demand’s Telegraph channel three days later reminded supporters the “nationally coordinated” action would be “popping off all over the country”.

The group’s aim to cause chaos when much of the UK stops to remember those who sacrificed their lives for their country is apparently made clear as the call ends: “We know we have to shut it down for Palestine.”

Set up by Umbrella, which is made up of Just Stop Oil, Youth Demand and other direct action groups, the meeting was held at Dockside Vaults, a bar near the Tower of London. The venue didn’t wish to comment when approached.

It wasn’t revealed which cities would be targeted, or how far advanced the plans were, at the meeting, during which vegan food was served.

The Metropolitan Police told Express.co.uk that any bids to cause chaos on Armistice Day would be met with “robust action”.

Deputy Asst Commissioner Matt Ward said: “Any attempt to disrupt the solemnity and importance of Armistice Day events is entirely unacceptable. The public would expect us to take robust action against anyone who does so and we will.”

He added the force has policing plans in place across London to protect those attending public events, and officers will intervene swiftly to deal with any individuals breaking the law.

Clifton, 23, hinted at the possibility of more chaos on Black Friday when retailers slash prices on the last Friday in November.

Just Stop Oil activist Sam Griffiths told the crowd at the same meeting that his group would be “relentless” in targeting Parliament in 2025.

Youth Demand and the Home Office have been approached for comment.
