The Yankees will face an old friend during the series opener against the A’s in Sacramento on Friday.
Right-hander Luis Severino will take the mound against his former team after one of his best outings of the season last Thursday, though the matchup will come at a venue that has already been a source of frustration for the veteran starter.
Severino has talked openly about not liking pitching at the A’s temporary home, Sutter Health Park, saying a year ago that “it’s tough to pitch here” and that it feels like a “spring training kind of game.”
After struggling last year in Sacramento, it’s been no different in 2026.
Severino has a 5.55 ERA in four starts in Sacramento so far this season versus a 3.38 ERA on the road.
He’s had trouble with the long ball at home in particular, giving up six bombs in 24 ⅓ innings.
In what has been one of the best hitter’s parks in baseball since the beginning of last season, I’m targeting two Yankee sluggers who have had success against Severino since he left the Pinstripes.
Jazz Chisholm Jr. has two homers in just 11 at-bats against Severino, while Aaron Judge has a long ball of his own and four hits in eight at-bats.

With Severino struggling to keep the ball in the park at Sutter Health, both Judge and Chisholm are worth a look in the home run market Friday night.

Judge is always a threat to go deep, while Chisholm has the previous dominance versus Severino, which gives you two looks at a profit.
The play: Aaron Judge (+225) and Jazz Chisholm Jr. (+520) to hit a home run
