Mike Tindall has spoken about how he treated his wife, Zara Tindall, as she celebrated her 44th birthday on May 15. The former Rugby star, 46, attended a charity golfing event, with Mike also marking the occasion with a sweet snap of the pair on Instagram.
During an appearance on Good Morning Britain, Mike spoke to the host, Kate Garraway. He jokingly remarked: “It was her birthday yesterday and I truly spoiled her by bringing her to the world-class Belfry. She got to hang out with 70 people she only sees once a year, it was exactly what she wanted for her birthday.”
Taking to social media last week, Mike posted a sweet tribute to his wife. Alongside a picture of the pair of them, Mike wrote: “[party-popper emoji] Happy Birthday to the better Tindall. She’s even let me play golf on her birthday!”
Mike was referring to this year’s edition of the charity golf event in Sutton Coldfield, as Mike and Zara attended The Belfry resort for the Celebrity Golf Classic that typically coincides with the royal’s birthday.
Mike shared several images on Instagram during the event and one showed him and Zara at breakfast, wearing sporty ensembles while enjoying a hearty meal of eggs, beans, and sausages.
In his caption, Mike revealed his “motivational advisor” was giving him some “final pieces of advice” before tee-off.
Zara and Mike both wore sports jackets, emblazoned with the logo of his charity event, with Zara finishing her look with a pair of white shorts and matching sneakers. Meanwhile, Mike’s printed patterned golf shorts featured a bold print of peacock feathers.
The couple, who wed in 2011, now share three children and regularly appear at both sporting and royal events.
Mike, is one of the few members of the Royal Family to maintain a public, personal presence on social media, but he rarely uses his presence there to highlight his family life.
Instead, the retired professional rugby player keeps his socials focused on his professional endeavors including his fondness for golf.
Zara and Mike, are among the Firm’s sportiest couples, as she is a professional equestrian and former Olympian like Princess Anne, and her husband is a World Cup-winning retired England rugby player.
The couple met in Australia in 2003, with the pair now proud parents of three children – Mia, 10, Lena, six, and four-year-old Lucas.
On July 30, 2011, Mike and Zara exchanged vows in Edinburgh. The couple wed just three months after the Prince and Princess of Wales.
