PORT ST. LUCIE — With the spotlight firmly on top prospect Carson Benge this spring, there’s no guarantee he’ll break camp with the team.
That’s where Mike Tauchman comes in.
Signed to a minor league deal late in the offseason, Tauchman has a shot to work his way onto the roster as a left-handed bat who can play all three outfield positions.
He opened some eyes with a three-run shot in Tuesday’s game against the Astros at Clover Park that ended in a 6-6 tie, and he’s had success in the majors before.
