An all-female anti-immigration protest group calling themselves ‘The Pink Ladies’ will descend on east London today (Wednesday) to protest against asylum seekers being housed in hotels. The group previously marched from Parliament Square to Downing Street on October 1 calling on Sir Keir Starmer to make women’s safety a priority.
The demonstrators are often dressed head-to-toe in pink – which they say symbolises hope – and wave English and British flags, as well as play loud music. The latest protest today is due to be held outside the Tower Hamlets council offices on Whitechapel Road from 5pm. Tower Hamlets council oversees the borough home to hotels housing asylum seekers, including the Britannia Hotel in Canary Wharf, where protests have previously been held.
An advert for the event was shared on the X account of the movement ‘Restore Britain’. A bright poster for the demonstration showing a drawing of women protesting with their fists in the air, read: “Protect us, protect our children – we will not be silenced”. Marches by the Pink Ladies have previously been met by counter-demonstrators from Stand Up To Racism, who carried signs saying “Women against the far-Right”. They accused the Pink Ladies of seeking “to spread racist hate and division”.
