Migrant flashes offensive gesture after arrest for mob attack on police officers

A migrant who was allegedly part of a mob that attacked two NYPD officers cheekily stuck up his middle fingers at reporters as he was released from custody on Wednesday.

Jhoan Boada, 22, didn’t seem bothered by the serious charges against him as he smirked and made the rude gesture outside the Midtown South Precinct in Manhattan in a video captured by Fox News.

Boada and several other migrants were allegedly involved in an attack on an NYPD officer and lieutenant near a popular tourist spot, the New Amsterdam theatre. The incident, which was caught on camera, has led to widespread outrage. Seven migrants, including Boada, have now been charged in relation to the attack.

The NYPD told Fox News Digital that two migrants, Yohenry Brito, 24, and Jandry Barros, 21, have been arrested. They were both charged with robbery and felony assault, bringing the total number of arrests to seven.

The charges relate to an officer’s mobile phone being stolen during the attack. The phone has not been found yet, according to the NYPD.

In a video, the NYPD asked the migrants to move, but a fight broke out as the officers tried to subdue a person in a yellow jacket.

A suspect wearing a hood and backpack can be seen kicking an officer twice in the head while he struggles on the ground. Another suspect in a red top kicks him in the back.

As the fight continues, the suspect in the red jacket returns and kicks another officer in the back.

Another hooded suspect with a backpack arrives and tries to kick one of the officer’s heads. He falls to the ground as he tries to do the kick.

The suspects then run away. The unnamed officers had minor injuries and were treated at the scene. One officer had cuts on his face, and the other had body bruises, sources said.

John Chell, the NYPD Chief of Patrol, called Saturday’s attack “reprehensible” and labelled the suspects who punched and kicked the officers as “cowards,” during a news conference on Wednesday.

“You saw the video,” Chell said. “You have eight people attacking a lieutenant and a cop. Running up to them and trying to kick them in the face.”
