A Formula One insider has provided a health update on Michael Schumacher, which could offer fans some hope that there are signs of small improvements in his condition.
Reporter Stefan L’Hermitt of L’Equipe has suggested that the condition of the iconic F1 driver may have improved, 11 years on from his tragic skiing accident. He told Le Grand Recit: “I would say he’s not doing well, but he might be getting better because fundamentally we don’t know anything.
“This year, he signed a helmet for a charity event. Was it his wife who held his hand? We don’t know exactly, but it’s the first time we’ve had a kind of positive sign, almost a sign of life.”
In April, Schumacher signed the helmet of fellow motorsport legend Sir Jackie Stewart, joining dozens of other drivers in a heartfelt gesture that has given fans hope for his recovery.
His wife, Corrina reportedly assisted him, as his initials ‘M.S.’ appeared on the bottom right of the white helmet.
L’Hermitt added that, while he has not received any news directly on Schumacher’s condition, he believes the F1 legend is still unable to speak or communicate.
“So we’re still dealing with someone who is still breathing, who might have some small interactions with his family, but we can’t say for sure that he’s doing well,” he added.
Very little has been heard or seen of Schumacher since his skiing accident in the French Alps in December 2013. Corinna, has maintained a tight inner circle to keep his condition private.
