The Met Office has issued an amber weather alert for large parts of England, warning of heavy rain and flooding.
Percipitation is likely to lead to disruption, officials have warned.
These include Derbyshire, Blackburn with Darwen, Greater Manchester, Lancashire and North, South and West Yorkshire.
People have been told to expect spray and flooding probably leading to difficult driving conditions and some road closures, and fast flowing or deep floodwater is likely, causing danger to life.
Homes and businesses are likely to be flooded, the Met Office added, causing damage to some buildings.
