Melania Trump seemingly refused to kiss Donald Trump in an awkward exchange after he declared victory in the 2024 US Presidential Election.
What should be a triumphant day for Trump may have a sour edge to it as his wife “gave him the cheek” when he leaned in for a winning kiss at Republican HQ in Florida.
A video of the frosty exchange has gone viral with many X users cringing and speculating after Melania and Donald Trump’s public display.
One said: “Trump and Melania interact with each other so strangely… like do you guys hug and kiss off stage too or is this the first time since the last rally? Why is there no sense of familiarity?”
“Trump goes in for a kiss with Melania. She gives him the cheek,” another added.
While other X users were left with visual discomfort after watching the uncomfortable moment.
“Melania hates her husband idc, that kiss was awkward. Yho it’s a circus,” one X user said.
Another weighed in that “even in victory Melania won’t kiss Donald on the lips… SAD”.
This is not the first time the couple have been called out on their lack of chemistry, one such was just last week when Melania once again seemed to dodge Trump’s efforts of a kiss and instead once again opted for a more formal kiss on the cheek.
The awkward exchange between Trump and Melania at the rally in Madison Square Garden on October 27 caused social media to be rife with speculation, with one user likening them to “actors without chemistry”.
One related her disinterest to that of greeting a father-in-law, adding: “She kissed in him like she was greeting her father-in-law or a friend’s husband. Air kisses.”
This even prompted American talk show host Jimmy Kimmel to poke fun at the pairs relationship.
Kimmel joked that Melania Trump’s rare appearance was in accordance with section 3, Subsection 2.7 of her prenuptial agreement.
