Meghan Markle is said to have one main focus when it comes to raising Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet. The former actress became a mother following the birth of her son in 2019 – one year after tying the knot with Harry, 40.

The couple, who moved to begin a new life in the US in 2020, later welcomed their daughter – a little sister for Archie – in June 2021. Meghan and Harry are known to be extremely protective of their children – and have shielded them from the public for most of their lives so far.

The 43-year-old has, however, began to give fans a rare insight into her life as a mother by sharing pictures of Archie and Lilibet – whom she affectionately refers to as Lili – to her Instagram account.

According to certified parenting coach and CEO at Live Joy Your Way Kamini Wood, Meghan is making that she teaches both of her children one very important quality.

Reflecting on her own experience as a mother-of-five, including two sons and three daughters, she told the Express: “Ultimately, though, with all of my children, regardless of gender, it comes down to one thing: respect.

“Respect for themselves, for others, for boundaries, for difference. That’s the throughline.

“That’s what I see reflected in Meghan’s parenting, too. An effort to raise children who can move through the world with both kindness and courage.”

Discussing her role as a mother at the TIME100 Summit back in April, Meghan said: “I’ve made a very, very conscious effort to create boundaries for myself and for my mental health, for my wellbeing, and certainly to role model that as well for my children.

“I’m conscious of not just raising a very strong and confident young woman, but also having a son, I think is just as paramount of importance for young men to be raised with a confidence and sense of self that is going to empower the women around them too.”

The couple welcomed Archie in the UK, but Meghan gave birth to Lilibet a year after their move to California.
