Meghan Markle’s As Ever brand released a 2024 vintage of Napa Valley rosé wine on August 5, but it is not selling as quickly as other batches in her product line. Despite going on sale at 8pm BST yesterday, the wine is still available hours later.
It’s a stark difference from the previous wine launch of the 2023 Napa Valley rosé, which sold out successfully in under 60 minutes. The new wine has the exact same price point as the previous batch, and is available in batches of three, six and twelve, with each bottle costing £22 ($30) and sold at £66 ($90), £116 ($159) and £218 ($300) respectively.
In a video posted on her Instagram, Meghan was seen uncorking a bottle marked ‘Bottle #1’ to toast to her achievements. Alongside the clip, she wrote: “Here we go! First bottle off the line! Toasting to a beautiful day: Our Napa rose is live @aseverofficial.”
Fans have noted the products are still available on the brand’s website and commented on the surplus. One wrote: “Meghan Markle has again shot herself in the foot. Her wine has yet to sell out. Perhaps she’s filled her stocks correctly or her product isn’t moving like last time.”
Another social media user on X wrote: “Many hours later, none of Meghan Markle’s wine has sold out!”
A user on X added: “Went on sale 7 hours ago and it’s still on sale.”
However, the As Ever brand appeared to defend the comments by posting a video on its social media page. A bottle of the rosé was shown being poured into a branded glass with the caption: “We made so much more this round, and yet it’s still going fast! Don’t miss out.”
Minutes before the product launched on the website, a post on the company’s Instagram showed corks branded with the As Ever logo, with a caption reading: “C’est l’heure. Enjoy your last sips of summer with the newest vintage of our beloved Napa Valley rose.”
The website describes the drink as “thoughtfully curated by Meghan, Duchess of Sussex” and that it has been “made to be enjoyed with the ones you love”.
The pink wine, which comes in a clear bottle with a white, gold-rimmed label, has an ABV (alcohol by volume) of 13.5%, just one percent lower than its predecessor.
Alongside celebrating the launch, Meghan posted a belated Instagram post following her 44th birthday on Monday, and Meghan said she was “blowing out the candles on a beautiful 24 hours” and thanked her husband, friends and family for “making it so special”.
