A former friend of Meghan Markle has criticised the duchess for turning her back on royal life. TV presenter Lizzie Cundy first became friends with the Duchess of Sussex, 43, in 2013, before Meghan had even met Prince Harry.
The women stayed friends for some time, with Cundy telling GB News that she was then ignored by Meghan after she met Prince Harry, 40. It is believed the two women have not spoken since, with Cundy slating the duchess for quitting royal life along with her husband in 2020.
Speaking to GB News after Trooping The Colour celebrations, which Meghan and Harry were not invited to, Cundy said the couple are “not very grateful”.
She said: “They whinge, they moan, they criticize and they are not very grateful. They had it all.
“I was a dating service for Meghan Markle and she ghosted me.
“She didn’t answer me back when she got with Prince Harry. I didn’t work for her again and I can understand why people are leaving her.”
This is not the first time the former Suits actress has been criticised by an ex pal for ignoring them after entering a relationship with Harry in 2016.
Made in Chelsea star Millie Mackintosh, who was once good friends with Meghan, also claimed in an episode of her Mumlemmas podcast in 2023 that Meghan seemed uninterested in their friendship after dating the prince.
Even when Millie reached out to check on the duchess, she said she received a “really abrupt” response.
She said: “My take on it is that…she’s like, ‘I’m going to be royal now, I don’t need Millie in my life.’”
Meghan Markle has not publicly responded to such claims.
