Meghan Markle’s brand “chaos” is down to her inability to take orders from people, according to royal experts. The Duchess of Sussex made headlines this week after announcing some of her sold-out products from As Ever will come back in stock, just hours after she was heard on her podcast speaking about taking a “pause” to think about the brand’s future.
Alongside the bombshell announcement, Meghan added that she will be bringing some new products too. In a picture on her brand’s Instagram account, the Duchess shared the message: “To all who’ve been wondering and waiting, thank you! Your favourites are returning, plus a few NEW things we can’t wait to show you. Coming this month…get excited!”
The week before, the Duchess made another cryptic comment about “stepping back” and taking time to reassess the brand’s future.
But now royal experts have slammed the Duchess and how “chaotic” her brand strategy is.
Author Charles Rae told The Sun: “I’m not a businessman, but I would have thought that if you were setting up a new company, you would have enough products on the shelves or whatever is kept to satisfy the demand.”
As Ever’s first collection launched back in March and consisted of eight products, which sold out in less than an hour.
It included a raspberry spread in keepsake packaging, herbal lemon ginger tea, herbal peppermint tea, herbal hibiscus tea, her flower sprinkles, crepe mix, shortbread cookie mix with flower sprinkles included and a limited-edition wildflower honey with honeycomb.
Mr Rae said that Meghan’s latest U-turn stems from the Duchess “not wanting to take orders from anyone”.
He told the outlet: “My view is that it is mainly, I would say, 90% Meghan who’s running the show, because this is a woman who does not want to take orders from anybody.”
Royal commentator Sarah Hewson agreed and said: “She doesn’t want to let go. And I guess, you know, she is putting her name to it. But yes, it has been chaotic.”
As Ever’s latest photograph – a wooden table with scattered bowls featuring various fruit – suggested that new spreads will likely be available featuring blueberries and strawberries.
