Meghan Markle’s decision to upload a video of her twerking in the hospital room would have likely left King Charles “horrified”, according to one royal expert. Earlier this week, Meghan, 43, astonished royal fans by posting the video of her dancing alongside Prince Harry whilst waiting to welcome Princess Lilibet to the world in June 2021.
Lilibet – who is the couple’s second child – celebrated her fourth birthday on June 4. The Duchess of Sussex, who made her return to social media in January, uploaded a series of posts to her Instagram to mark her little girl’s special day. After a special birthday post for Lilibet and another dedicated to Harry’s bond with their daughter, Meghan uploaded a video of herself and Harry dancing in the hospital where they welcomed their daughter, in a bid to induce labour.
Accompanying the post, Meghan wrote: “Four years ago today, this also happened.
“Both of our children were a week past their due dates… so when spicy food, all that walking, and acupuncture didn’t work – there was only one thing left to do!”, followed by a cry-laughing emoji.
Royal expert Jennie Bond said that she believes this was an “astonishing video on any level” – and shared what she believes the King may have thought of it.
Speaking to the Mirror, she said: “The hours before you give birth are some of the most personal, intimate and private in the lives of any couple.
“And women are perfectly entitled to do whatever they feel like to get through the waiting, and the pain. Giving birth is a serious business, and anything to lighten the mood is welcome.
“However – to share those scenes with the world is utterly bizarre and, in my view, takes away all the magic of the moment. I cannot imagine why she chose to release it. Maybe show it one day to your nearest and dearest— but to anyone and everyone who wants to click on it?”
She added: “If the King has watched it, which I doubt, though he can’t have missed the headlines I’m sure he would be horrified. Royalty has to carry with it some measure of dignity.”
