Royal experts have weighed in on Meghan Markle’s request that people “tell the truth” about her during her latest podcast appearance with businesswoman Emma Grede. On the podcast, Meghan revealed that she wanted people to “tell the truth” about her when she was asked, “If you could rewrite your public narrative from scratch, is there anything you would do differently?”
On the Sun’s Royal Exclusive show, news commentator Samara Gill spoke to the outlet’s royal editor Matt Wilkinson. She said: “The fact is she is a constant liar and her whole brand is built on a spin of lies. I don’t trust a word that woman says. I think it is very, very low for her to insinuate that we should listen to her truth or that the Royal Family should tell the truth.”
Meghan also shared advice that she had received from tennis player Serena Williams regarding how she was viewed in the public after falling in love with Prince Harry. Meghan said: “My dear friend Serena, she told me years ago, ‘A lie can’t live forever.'”
Royal author and broadcaster Hugo Vickers also spoke on The Sun’s podcast about Meghan’s appeal. He said: “No one would actually listen to Meghan Markle if it wasn’t for the fact she married Prince Harry. It’s because she’s married to Harry it gives the soap opera quality that seems to appeal to everyone.
“Otherwise would not really care about her, a lot of other people are doing stuff similar to her on social media anyway.”
The podcast appearance comes after the Duchess broke her silence on her twerking video in a hospital room just before Princess Lilibet’s birth.
The footage showed a heavily pregnant Meghan dancing to Starrkeisha’s The Baby Momma Dance – a song which became viral on TikTok at the time of Princess Lilibet’s birth in 2021. Meghan’s highly unusual upload sparked debate online, with supporters of the Duchess praising her for her carefree nature and critics blasting her for the “cringeworthy” and “unroyal” effort.
Aside from the video, the Duchess marked her daughter’s birthday by posting a series of never-before-seen snaps of her with the Duchess herself and the Duke.
Meghan’s brand, As Ever, will also restock its products on June 20, after the first drop sold out within less than an hour. The Duchess took to Instagram to tease the upcoming release, which will see her re-launch fan-favourite products like jam, honey, and tea.
“Oh yes, honey…sweet things await,” Meghan wrote in the caption, alongside a photo of a stack of pancakes. She added: “Mark your calendars for June 20 at 8 a.m. PT – we’re bringing back your favourites, plus some delicious surprises you won’t want to miss!”
