Meghan Markle has dropped a major hint that Netflix has a lot of control and power over her As Ever brand. The Duchess of Sussex, who is in a partnership with the streaming giant, appeared on the Aspire with Emma Grede podcast this week, when she spoke about the team behind her lifestyle brand.
Talking to Grede, Meghan, 43, revealed that Netflix has “an entire team devoted” to As Ever with around 80 staff members. She then says that her own personal team is “small and mighty”, and made up of “savvy women”.
While it seems right that Netflix have a lot of staff, the fact their team for As Ever is significantly larger than Meghan’s own office team suggests that they may hold more driving force for As Ever than her own team.
Although this could be the case, it doesn’t seem to be a problem for Meghan, who praised Netflix as a business partner.
The Duchess said that the streaming giant “trusts” her judgement and respects her “vision”, allowing her to get involved in every part of the brand process.
She told Grede: “I think the misconception is that when you have a very large machine, and a very powerful and influential machine, like a partner in Netflix, then you have me and all of the attention that brings.
“The two of us together make an incredible partnership.”
The podcast appearance came earlier this week just days before As Ever’s second project drop, which will take place on Friday.
The first product launch in April was a major success, with all products being a sell-out.
Ahead of Friday’s launch, Meghan took to Instagram, writing: “Oh yes, honey… sweet things await.
“Mark your calendars for June 20 at 8 a.m. PT – we’re bringing back your favorites, plus some delicious surprises you won’t want to miss!”
