Meghan Markle has said she was in the “trenches” with Prince Harry six months into dating the Duke. On The Jamie Kern Lima Show, Meghan, 43, sat down for her first time as a podcast interviewee and addressed a number of topics.
As well as talking about her business ventures, the Duchess of Sussex spoke about her husband and what the early days of their relationship was like in the UK spotlight compared to now. Prince Harry, 40, was a full-time working royal when he began dating the American actress, with the pair quitting together in 2020 – less than two years afte their royal wedding.
Speaking about their relationship, Meghan said: “At the beginning everyone is like butterflies, and then we immediately went into the trenches together right out of the gate, like six months into dating.”
She continued: “So now, seven years later, when you have a little bit of breahing space you can just enjoy each other in a new way and that’s why I feel like it’s more of a honeymoon period now.”
Meghan also gushed about her husband on the podcast, calling him “very handsome”.
She said: “Oh he’s such a great partner. I feel that, I feel that everyday in how supportive he’s been and is.
“H, that man loves me so much and look what we built. We’ve built a beautiful live and we have two healthy beautiful children. He’s just going to do whatever he can to make his family is safe and protected and uplifted and still make time for date nights.”
Elsewhere in the podcast, Meghan spoke about the idea of having to “prove” herself.
The mum-of-two said: “We spend so much of our lives trying to prove something, to prove that you’re enough, you have to prove that you’re pretty enough, you have to prove you’re smart enough, you have to prove that you’re a good wife or a good friend.
“And I was like ‘I am just so done with the proving game and if you can’t see it, I don’t need to prove to you why that’s your loss.’
“I know that I’m a great friend, and I know the kind of mum I am, and I know the kind of human being I am, and I know how I show up.”
