Meghan Markle accused of taking advantage of sick Charles and Kate to boost brand in US

Meghan Markle has been accused of taking advantage of a crisis-stricken Royal Family to boost her own image.

The Duchess of Sussex last night launched what is believed to be a new lifestyle brand called American Riviera Orchard. The unveiling was made with a new Instagram account and web page containing few details.

The move has already sparked backlash as it came just hours before Prince William was due to speak at Princess Diana’s Legacy Award event in London.

But royal expert Robert Jobson believes there is an even more sinister plot at play, accusing Meghan of taking advantage of the Royal Family in a time of crisis.

Speaking exclusively to Daily Express US, he said: “Meghan knows exactly what she is doing.

“I don’t think there is energy to rise to it from the Palace – the King is recovering from cancer, William is supporting him and his wife is recovering from an operation herself.

“There is no fight for this and it will just raise the brand more.”

Some have suggested that Meghan’s new business could be breaking a commercial agreement that was agreed with the Firm to not profit from the use of royal titles.

But Mr Jobson said there is unlikely to be any fightback from the Royal Family.

He added: “The deal was with the Queen. America is the land of the free and people would start to kick off if they [the Royal Family] raised it. Everyone needs to make money.

“I don’t think they fear the Royal Family in a way they did before. They know there is no fight now that the King is ill.

“They have left and they won’t be returning.”

The new business venture is believed to be a revamped version of Meghan’s old lifestyle blog which she closed down in 2017 when she was getting ready to marry Prince Harry.

In a promotional video, Meghan arranges white roses, bakes in her kitchen, and looks after her dog with her Montecito mansion in the background.

American Riviera Orchard, which already has 350,000 Instagram followers, shared the video on its Stories.
