The Duchess of Sussex “desperately needs” a UK audience if her brand, As Ever, is to succeed, a royal commentator has claimed. It comes as Meghan Markle spoke about her brand and product launch on the podcast ‘Aspire with Emma Grede’ released this week.
Prominent YouTuber, Leilani of Barbados, exclusively spoke to the Express and stated: “Emma Grede is a successful British businesswoman, who although residing in Los Angeles, reaches a UK audience. Meghan thought she wouldn’t need the UK audience, but now realises that if she wants her brands to go global, she desperately needs a UK audience. Emma validates Meghan by having her as a guest on the podcast.”
The royal commentator, who boasts over 118K subscribers on her channel, also spoke about the previous appearance of Meghan on cosmetics entrepreneur, Jamie Kern Lima’s podcast. She said: “A common thread I noticed when Meghan has conversations with these entrepreneurs is that they have not had the opportunities and privilege that Meghan has when it comes to capital injection.
“It is difficult for Meghan to relate to the common woman when speaking about raising money. Meghan, because of her marriage to Harry and the controversy she has cultivated with the British Royal Family, has consequently been handed opportunities on a silver platter.”
Leilani further added of the podcast appearance: “My general opinion is that Meghan came across desperate in the Emma Grede Interview. It was necessary for Meghan to use clickbait and draw us into watching her by promising to spill the tea. Sadly, she did not deliver the goods.”
In Meghan Markle’s interview, she touched upon her partnership with Netflix, and how her life has changed since she and Prince Harry stepped down as senior working royals in 2020.
Meghan spoke about how proud she was of “investing in herself”. She told the interview host: “It’s been so many years since we came over here. I do think it takes a little bit of courage to bet on yourself. And that’s felt really good.”
However, social media users also brutally mocked Meghan’s appearance with the overall verdict coming down to just one word – “boring”. One wrote: “It is sooooo boring… word salad… bla bla bla… can’t wait to see review for this … because after 35 minutes she doesn’t say anything at all!”
The description of the podcast episode read: “In her first wide-ranging interview about her new company, As Ever, Meghan joins Emma for a candid conversation about the pressure, the pivots, and the power of betting on yourself when the world is watching.”
Emma is a British businesswoman and serves as a founding partner of Skims, the fashion company also co-owned by Kim Kardashian and Jens Grede.
Aspire With Emma Grede launched last month, in partnership with radio and podcasting company Audacy, and so far, its guests have included Gwyneth Paltrow, Karlie Kloss, and Jay Shetty.
Emma Grede, a London native, worked in talent management before going into business with the Kardashian family. She lives in California with her husband, Jens Grede, a cofounder of Skims and denim brand Frame, and their four children.
The sit-down marks Meghan’s second long-form podcast interview so far, following her conversation with friend and neighbour Jamie Kern Lima in April.
