Meghan and Harry skewered by Piers Morgan with just four words | Celebrity News | Showbiz & TV

Piers Morgan has taken another brutal swipe at Prince Harry and Meghan Markle — this time mocking their upcoming humanitarian award just days after Meghan’s controversial Paris Fashion Week appearance. The royal couple are set to travel to New York to be honoured as “Humanitarians of the Year” at a star-studded mental health gala on Thursday. But the timing couldn’t be worse — coming hot on the heels of a fresh backlash over Meghan’s behaviour in Paris and allegations of misconduct surrounding one of Harry’s charities.

Taking to X, Piers shared an article about the couple’s forthcoming award with the headline: “Harry and Meghan head to New York to receive a humanitarian award… after Chad government accused Duke’s ‘disrespectful’ charity of financial misconduct and wildlife violations.” The outspoken presenter added his own scathing four-word response, posting: “Humanitarians of the year” followed by a string of laughing emojis — a move that quickly sent his followers into overdrive.

It comes after Harry’s long-standing charity African Parks faces explosive accusations from the government of Chad.

The country’s environment minister, Hassan Bakhit Djamous, accused the conservation group — where Harry sits on the board — of “financial misconduct” and “disrespect” toward his government.

In a damning four-page letter, Mr Djamous claimed African Parks had shown “a recurring indelicate and disrespectful attitude” and allegedly violated banking laws by moving assets abroad and using “tax-sheltering bank accounts in the Isle of Man”.

The charity, which Harry led as president for six years before joining its board in 2023, manages more than 20 national parks and reserves across 13 African nations.

Mr Djamous went further, claiming there had been a “resurgence in poaching and a lack of investment” at Chadian reserves under the charity’s control — a stark contrast to the glowing praise Harry and Meghan are expected to receive at the star-studded New York ceremony.

Despite the mounting controversy, the Duke and Duchess struck a defiant tone in their joint statement: “Working with families and young people to prioritize safety online has been some of the most meaningful work of our lives.

“As parents ourselves, we have been moved to action by the power of their stories and are honored to support them.”

Meghan was recently slammed over an Instagram post during her trip to Paris after documenting her chauffeured drive past bridges near the site of Princess Diana’s fatal crash at Pont de l’Alma.

In the clip, she is seen leaning back with legs extended — a gesture social media critics deemed disrespectful.
