McDonald's to axe nine items from menu in days including 'best ever McFlurry'

McDonald’s is about to remove nine items from its menu, including what some fans have dubbed “the best ever McFlurry”.

The tasty menu items, which landed on UK menus just over a month ago, will disappear from UK restaurants in just days.

On Tuesday, March 12, the KitKat Ruby Chocolate McFlurry, which combines soft ice cream with Ruby Chocolate-covered KitKat pieces and wafer bites, will be axed.

But it’s not the only McFlurry that McDonald’s will say goodbye to – the classic KitKat Milk Chocolate McFlurry, which blends KitKat pieces with chocolate sauce, is also on the chopping block.

As far as burgers go, the much-loved Big Tasty and the Big Tasty with bacon are also departing.

Every time these burgers return, they’re a massive success, leading many to call for them to become permanent fixtures.

They feature a beef patty, melty cheese made with Emmental, tomato, lettuce, onions and the iconic Big Tasty sauce. Many fans have taken to social media to share their sadness at the loss of these items.

One person wrote about the KitKat Ruby Chocolate McFlurry: “The best McFlurry I’ve ever had.”

Another Facebook user lamented: “The big tasty is my favourite.”

McDonald’s menu items going this week

  • KitKat Ruby Chocolate McFlurry – £2.19.
  • KitKat Ruby Chocolate McFlurry mini – £1.59.
  • KitKat Milk Chocolate McFlurry – £2.19.

  • Mozzarella Dippers share box with salsa dip – £6.49.

From March 13, there will be a wave of new dishes and treats.

Among the new items are the Galaxy Truffle Bunny McFlurry and the Hot Cross Bun Pie. The McCrispy Deluxe, the Cadbury Creme Egg McFlurry and Halloumi Fries will also be making a return.

Despite the drastic menu change, McDonald’s won’t leave fans in the lurch for long. On Wednesday, March 13, the fast-food giant will welcome a host of new additions.

For the first time, the Hot Cross Bun Latte will be hitting menus. Another Easter-inspired item – the Hot Cross Bun Pie – will stake its claim on UK menus, costing £1.99.

It’s made up of a crispy cinnamon pastry, filled with a spiced fruit mix and butter-flavour cream filling.

The Truffle Bunny McFlurry, which combines soft dairy ice cream swirled with pieces of Galaxy Truffle, bunny ears, and white and dark chocolate drops topped with chocolate sauce, will also debut for £2.19.

For those who prefer the classics, three favourite menu items are making a comeback.

The much-loved Cadbury Creme Egg McFlurry is returning just in time for the chocolate season. It combines soft dairy ice cream with pieces of Cadbury Dairy Milk and is topped with a Creme Egg sauce. This sweet delight will cost you £2.19 for a regular size and £1.59 for a mini.

Making its second appearance is the McCrispy Deluxe, which was first introduced last summer. This burger is a fancy twist on a popular favourite.

It consists of a 100 percent chicken breast fillet in a crunchy coating with hot and spicy mayo and is topped with cheese and bacon. The burger will cost £5.89 on its own and £7.79 with a side and a drink.

The menu revamp also marks the return of the chain’s halloumi fries for the third year running – you can get a pack of four cheese sticks coated in a light batter, served with a rich tomato dip. They cost £2.79 for a pack or £7.39 for a share box.
