Maxx Crosby speaks out on lingering Raiders trade rumors

There’s another development in the Maxx Crosby saga.

Following reports that the Raiders’ star edge rusher told Las Vegas minority owner Tom Brady he wants to be traded last week, Crosby responded to those rumors this week.

Crosby didn’t directly address the report during an appearance on the latest episode of the “Let’s Go!” podcast, mentioning that he doesn’t want to rehash everything with each new development.

He added he’s constantly been getting messages on his phone about the situation.

“Everyone’s hitting me up, ‘Did you say this?’ I can’t control that,” Crosby said. “You earn that as a player. If I wasn’t doing the right things and if I wasn’t the person and player I was, people wouldn’t be talking about all of the nonsense.”

Crosby added all the noise surrounding him is due to his success on the field and personality off of it.

“If you have drama, if you have a losing season, they just try to throw gasoline on the fire and make things a certain way,” Crosby said. “For me, I know what I’m about, I know what I represent. I really don’t care what everybody has to say.”

When asked about his goals, the seven-year veteran — who’s accumulated 69.5 career sacks, all with the Raiders — said he wants to be in a place where he’s 100 percent himself.

“I just want to play football and be left the f–k alone,” Crosby said.

Despite Crosby’s recent drama, Raiders newly appointed head coach Klint Kubiak and owner Mark Davis said in Kubiak’s introductory press conference Tuesday that they want Crosby to remain a Raider.

Notably, though, Crosby was absent from the press conference, while a number of his teammates, including running back Ashton Jeanty, attended.

Kubiak did mention that he and Crosby had met earlier that morning, and he was “looking forward to continuing those conversations.”

Crosby’s relationship with the Raiders has turned sour over the last few months. At the end of the regular season, Las Vegas decided to shut down Crosby for its final two games due to a lingering knee injury.

Thinking he could still play, Crosby reportedly stormed out of the Raiders’ facility when he was told the news.

That led to an unnamed general manager telling Jason La Canfora of SportsBoom.com that Crosby would “retire before he ever plays for (the Raiders) again.”

But Crosby denied that he’d requested a trade last week while on “The Herd with Colin Cowherd.”

No matter what’s actually happening, the situation continues to get muddier each week.
