If you only have full-fat milk, replace a quarter of the milk with water.
To improve your Yorkshire puddings, it’s essential to use a hot, preheated pan with enough oil to create the ideal rise and crispness. The batter should be smooth ensuring it’s the right consistency for rising.
Mary Berry’s recipe offers an easy method that guarantees great results every time, even for beginners. By following her approach, you’ll achieve perfectly risen Yorkshire puddings that are both impressive and delicious.
With her simple yet effective tips, you can confidently make these iconic treats at home without the worry of them falling flat.
First, you should mix the flour and salt together in a bowl and make a well in the centre before adding the eggs and a little of the milk.
Whisk until smooth, then gradually add the remaining milk – this can be done with a wooden spoon, but is easier with an electric hand-held whisk, once you’re finished, pour the mixture into a jug.
Next, measure a teaspoon of oil into each hole of a 12-bun tray, or a tablespoonful into each hole of a four hole tin, or three tablespoons into a roasting tin.
Then transfer to the oven for five minutes, or until the oil is piping hot.
Carefully remove from the oven and pour the batter equally between the holes or the tin.
Finally, return the batter quickly to the oven and cook for 20 to 25 minutes or until golden-brown and well-risen.
Add these delicious Yorkshire puddings to your roast for the perfect homemade finish to your meal.
