Many people are reluctant to cook during the week if they have been working all day, but you can make a delicious home-cooked meal without much effort if you have the right recipe.

Mary Berry has a simple but tasty pasta dish that only takes 15 minutes to cook from scratch.

This creamy pasta has crispy ham, tender mushrooms and is topped with parmesan cheese so you can enjoy some hearty comfort food without spending ages in the kitchen.

In her cookbook ‘Mary Berry Cooks’, the chef wrote: “This is my standby pasta supper – great for everyday family meals or for casual supper parties too. If you don’t have Parma ham, then Black Forest ham or Serrano ham work just as well.”

What is fantastic about this recipe is that it also serves six portions, which makes it perfect for families, big gatherings or you can save the sauce to have more of it during the week.

Method

To begin, make the pasta by boiling it in a pot of salted water. Cook according to the packet instructions, drain the water and then set aside.

Place the frying pan on the stove and heat the oil. Add half of the parma ham and cook until crispy, then remove from the pan and set aside.

Cut the mushrooms into quarters, then cook in the frying pan for two minutes. Pour in the creme fraiche and bring to a boil.

Add the pasta, remaining parma ham, parmesan cheese and parsley. Mix together and season with salt and pepper.

Place in a bowl and sprinkle the crispy parma ham on top, and you delicious pasta dish is ready to eat. It is best served with green salad and crusty bread.
