Ruben Amorim confirmed that Manchester United are trying to bring in players with less than 48 hours remaining in the winter transfer window, but wants to avoid making the same “mistakes” as previous years.
A potentially serious injury to Lisandro Martinez could force the Red Devils into signing another defender, while their issues were laid bare as Jean-Philippe Mateta’s brace secured all three points for Crystal Palace in a 2-0 win at Old Trafford.
Attempts have been made to strengthen Amorim’s frontline, which was led by Kobbie Mainoo against Palace as Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee started on the bench, following Marcus Rashford’s imminent departure to Aston Villa on loan.
“We are trying everything to improve the team without doing the mistakes of the past,” Amorim said after another dismal defeat. “We will see. There is one more day.”
